Salt Shed

One of my favorite buildings to explore through Open House New York was the Salt Shed. Located in what I presume is an important location for use, this high visibility building on the West Side Highway is creatively designed. This building could have easily been poorly designed. It could have easily been given little thought nor attention which could have made the building an eyesore. Instead we have a nicely considered building that uses lines creatively. Walking around and inside, I noticed the space around me fitting together perfectly. That is to say that the proportions were considered, open and sculptural. The salt inside the building seemed like it was part of an installation.
