This post started in the fall of 2017 when Nina and I saw some Kaws' up for sale at Phillips. The new additions that we experienced yesterday (11/18/18) varied in scale. Just as the first set we saw were the first in real life for us, the giant Kaws this time around was the first for us to see something so tall. Up until recently we had only seen giant sculptures on the interwebs and books. Taking a step back, prior to experiencing the giant Kaws we visited Skarstedt gallery on 79th which had a number of smaller scale sculptures and paintings.

KAWS' Four Foot Companion's from the Katayama Collection
While having seen a lot of KAWS' pieces before online, I haven't seen that many in person. So when I heard that Phillips Art Auctions was going to be responsible for putting on a number of his four foot companion's on the block that were part of Katayama's collection, I had to see them myself.
